Let’s be honest — Disney World buses have a bit of a reputation.

From long waits to crowded rides and unexpected detours, some guests dread relying on the complimentary bus system during their vacation. But while it may not have the glitz of the Monorail or the scenic views of the Skyliner, the humble Disney bus just got some surprising love from a recent traveler, and it’s making us take a second look.
One of our readers shared their experience after a summer stay at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter, and their review might change your perspective:
“We stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter at the end of June. Got the buses to all parks and never waited more than about 8 minutes. We had a hire car but we only used it for Typhoon Lagoon as we found the buses so good, also you don’t burn your bum on a hot car seat! Had one issue late at night (11pm) waiting on a bus to Disney Springs that kept getting delayed and we ended up getting a rideshare. But overall loved the buses for rope drop and getting home from the parks.”

Beyond the comfort of avoiding a scorching-hot car seat, which is a real Florida struggle, Disney buses offer some underrated perks. For one, they drop you off close to park entrances, and there’s no need to navigate parking lots or trams. They’re also a great way to avoid paying for parking if you’re staying on property, and they can be a lifesaver for guests who don’t want to deal with driving in unfamiliar traffic after a long day of park hopping.

Sure, there may be occasional delays, especially during peak evening hours or when heading to Disney Springs late at night. But for early morning rope drops, midday returns to the hotel, and most trips between resorts and parks, many guests find the buses to be surprisingly reliable. So while they might not have the fanfare of other transportation options, Disney’s buses might just be the unsung heroes of your next Disney trip.
