You need to stay hydrated at Disney World, but what’s the best way to do so? Should you bring your own refillable mug or purchase one at Disney? We’re breaking it down for you today!

Between the Florida sun, the humidity, and the miles and miles of walking you’ve done at Disney World, you need to stay hydrated. There are several options to do so, between free cups of water or purchasing sodas. If you are thinking about bringing your own refillable mug, there are some things you’ll want to know.
Disney’s Refillable Mug
When staying at a Disney World resort, you can purchase the Rapid Refillable Mug for $22.99. This is a 16-oz collectible mug with fun Disney themes. The price gives you access to refillable soda and tea machines for the length of your resort stay, up to 14 days.

So once you purchase the mug, how does it work? At the bottom of each mug, there is an RFID tag inside that pairs with the refill machines. You do have to wait in between refills. This is so that one member of your party purchases the mug and uses 20 refills back to back to fill up everyone’s cup with soda.

These mugs only work at Disney World resorts. While you are in the parks or at Disney Springs, you will have to purchase sodas separately. Of course, you can bring in your mug full of drink from your resort and use it. But you cannot get free refills outside of the resorts.

Bringing Your Own
If you bring your own bottle or mug to refill while on vacation, you can still access the free water on the refill machines at the resorts as well as in the parks. However, you will not be able to fill it with soda or other beverages due to the RFID system.

If you bring your own, you can choose to bring something that seals well to put in your park bag. The resort mugs do not seal the best and could create a mess in the park bag. Unless you are a big fan of sodas and staying at a Disney World resort, it might not be worth the $22.99 to purchase a mug.
