REVIEW: Epic Universe Is Totally Encouraging Us to Order Butterbeer for Breakfast

Universal’s Epic Universe is now officially open, and there’s SO much to see and do!

Epic Universe entrance

With five different lands and a variety of restaurants, we’ve been working our way through all the food in the brand new park. And recently, we got to try out breakfast at Café L’air De La Sirène!

Background

Café L’air De La Sirène is the largest quick service spot in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic.

Let’s go!

The restaurant was previously open for lunch and dinner, but toward the end of Epic Universe’s preview season, they added a breakfast menu.

It’s a beautiful spot

That’s what we’re here to try out today!

Atmosphere

The restaurant takes up a large portion of the left side of the land, with a TON of indoor seating, as well as some outside tables.

Patio seating

The architecture inside is very Parisian-inspired, with some stunning details and artwork to top it all off. We could sit in here and just admire the space for hours!

STUNNING

There’s an order counter available, but the easiest way to get your meal is to sit down at a table and use Universal Orlando’s mobile ordering system through their app. Once you place your order, you enter your table number and the food is brought directly to you.

The interior has a lot of natural light, but there are also SO many stunning light fixtures, mirrors, and glass elements that really make it feel bright and welcoming.

And of course, it’s decorated with very Wizarding World-esque portraits and art pieces.

Let’s dive in to the food!

Food & Drinks

For this meal, we’re trying FOUR different breakfast meals, each of which comes with a beverage. Kicking off the list, we’ve got the Oeuf en Cocotte for $19.99. This was definitely our favorite of the options — it’s poached eggs, Mornay sauce, gruyère cheese mashed potatoes, and a toasted baguette.

Our favorite item!

You dip the baguette into the sauce, and it reminds us of a breakfast gravy. We would 1000% get this again because it’s incredibly unique and offers a few different intriguing flavors.

YUM

Next we had the Jambon Buerre for $19.99. It’s a pretty standard ham and cheese situation, but it has a bit of extra saltiness. The cheese is melted on the bottom and it paired nicely.

Ham and cheese

Overall though, this wasn’t incredibly impressive. We tend to like similar options at Les Halles in EPCOT a bit better. However, we definitely appreciated the fruit cup, which came with raspberry, strawberry, blueberry, and a bit of maple syrup on the bottom. The fruits were quite fresh!

Jambon Beurre

Our third breakfast was the Croissant Supreme for $19.99 as well. This was a pretty solid dish, but it’s nothing to write home about. The croissant was nice and flaky with a slightly runny egg on top.

Croissant Supreme

There’s not really anything bad to say about this — it’s decidedly an average breakfast sandwich with your basic bacon, egg, and cheese combo.

Pretty basic overall

The Crepe Parisienne for $19.99 was one of our top choices of the four entrees. It has egg, brie, sliced cracked black pepper turkey breast, roasted apples, Mornay sauce, and yuzu hollandaise sauce.

We love a crepe!

It’s very savory and has a nice burst to the egg. Once you get inside the crepe, you have those delicious meat and cheese flavors that really help round it out. This was well constructed and the flavors are definitely more elevated.

For the beverages, you get to choose your drink for each of the meals, and we tried four different options. Starting off with the Lavender Lemonade, it was very light with a little bit of lavender and lemon flavors — bright and fresh.

The Pumpkin Juice was also one of the options. It’s kind of like a light pumpkin taste with a bit of apple cider flavor underneath.

The Frozen Butterbeer was deliciously frothy with that butterscotch flavor in the beverage itself — a classic and fan-favorite choice in the Wizarding World.

And finally, The Fraise was sweeter than a tea with a nice light strawberry taste to it.

The Fraise

That’s a wrap on our visit. So how did the restaurant fare?

Magic or Tragic?

This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…

  • You’re a huge Harry Potter fan — the atmosphere here is perfect for the Wizarding World in Paris.
  • You want to grab a relaxing breakfast — the restaurant wasn’t too busy during the early morning and the meal was lovely.

You should skip this Disney World spot if…

  • You’re “running and riding” in the morning — if you’ve got places to be and characters to see first thing in the AM, then you may want to grab your breakfast on the go.
  • You have picky eaters — the simple options here fit within the picky eater palette, but they’re pretty pricey for what you get.
