It’s true! Similar to Dapper Day, which has multiple events throughout the year in both Disneyland and Disney World, Goth Day is officially known as Bats Day. If you’ve got an interest, here’s how you can make sure you don’t miss out!

The original Disney Goth event was established in 1999, and now it’s called “Bats Day in the Fun Park®” and is described as “a convention type event that happens once a year. Bats Day attracts people from all dark subculture genres and walks of life, from Deathrock to Goth, Industrial to Steampunk, Rockabilly to Psychobilly, Halloween, DisneyGoth and anywhere in between, all for the love of Disneyland, to have some spooky fun at the Disneyland Resort, CA, with meetings spots and photo ops” according to the official website.

This is not an official Disney event, but it’s been happening now for over two decades! It began in August 1999 as a simple park meet organized by promoters of the goth clubs Absynthe and Release the Bats. It expanded in 2003 to include events at an official Bats Day hotel. Since 2018, it’s scaled back to just be a two-day event in the park. Hotel events are planned to return after some restructuring takes place.

The event highlights that it’s entirely family-friendly, and warns attendees that they’re still very much present in a public park, so be respectful towards other guests when it comes to what you choose to wear. Bats Day has also confirmed that Disney is well aware of them and fully recognizes them and their event, but does not sponsor them in any way.

Hundreds of people come to this event of all ages, and this year’s event just took place on April 26th and 27th! While no photos from this year’s event are available just yet, check out how many people were in attendance for their 25th anniversary last year.
