CONFIRMED: The Giant Gingerbread House Will NOT Return to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort in 2025

Um, guys — not to cause a stir, but we may be missing a HUGE piece of Disney World holiday decor this year!

Disney World is no stranger to construction and ever-evolving change. While we’ve already seen evidence of massive projects in progress in the parks, it seems Disney’s also turning their attention to some of the surrounding hotels, too! The latest announcement about one of our favorite hotels has us a bit worried that we may not get everything we want for Christmas this year.

Disney World has just announced new plans to overhaul the interior of the lobby atrium inside Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. Along with the announcement, Disney also released concept artwork outlining the changes we should anticipate coming to the lobby, including a new bar inspired by the vintage birdcage you can spot there now. Decor and floral updates are also part of the renovation.

Due to the construction, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort will not be hosting the iconic gingerbread house display this year.

However, other gingerbread displays offered at various Disney World hotels are still going to be offered this year. We’ve seen incredible displays at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, Disney’s Boardwalk Inn Resort, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort.

The Victorian-inspired hotel at Disney World just completed a massive renovation to its hotel rooms and updates to the lobby flooring in 2023. So it stands to reason that with so many updates surrounding the lobby, it was only a matter of time until their attentions were hyper-focused on the remaining elements featured within the atrium.

While it will be sad to have a Christmas season without such a gigantic and grand gingerbread display we’ve come to know and love over the last several decades at Disney World, it is a relief to hear that the others will still be around. Luckily, we should only have to endure one holiday season without the iconic gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort!
