Disney has released a MAJOR update on the future stage adaptation of The Greatest Showman.

In early March 2025, Disney made several announcements about the upcoming stage adaptation of the hit 2017 film. First and foremost, the company confirmed that the show will premiere in England at the Bristol Hippodrome. Oh, and we have an opening timeline, too!
Disney’s new The Greatest Showman stage show will debut in the spring of 2026 — mark your calendars, people! According to a new social media post, “The musical will feature the GRAMMY Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated songs by EGOT winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, including “The Greatest Show,” “A Million Dreams,” “Come Alive,” “Rewrite the Stars” and the Golden Globe Award-winning “This Is Me,” together with their brand-new songs written especially for the musical.”
Furthermore, according to Playbill, Pasek and Paul will be joined behind the scenes by two-time Tony winner Casey Nicholaw (Some Like It Hot, The Book of Mormon) as the musical’s director, and writer Tim Federle (Tuck Everlasting, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series).
Disney Theatrical Group producers Andrew Flatt, Anne Quart, and Thomas Schumacher said in a joint statement, “We cannot wait to see how this incredibly talented team of creatives elevate the beloved work still further,” adding, “Now we begin the search for the performers who will bring this story to life on stage.”
Casting for the show is ongoing, and Disney is holding casting calls throughout March and April in Dublin, Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester, Exeter, Newcastle, and London. Currently, no one from the film is expected to join the stage musical. According to Quart, “Look, we haven’t finished casting, so it’s hard. I can’t say anything for sure. But it isn’t our intention that anyone from the film will be in the musical.”
The Greatest Showman starred Hugh Jackman as P.T. Barnum in a musical biopic hybrid that told the story of the 1800s entertainment impresario. The film was released to great box office success by 20th Century Fox in 2017. Disney acquired ownership of the film thanks to their 2019 purchase of the Fox library.
