I Go to Disney World EVERY DAY. The Most Difficult Part Isn’t What You Think.

Going to Disney World is a blast, but it doesn’t come without its difficulties.

Hi, it’s me Breedlove!

Not many people get to say they go to Disney World for a living, but I have the pleasure of saying it’s my job. I report on the latest Disney news, tips, tricks, and theme park history, but as fun as it can get, it’s not always easy.

When talking about Disney World difficulties, there are obvious problems and then ones you don’t think about often.

The most obvious difficulty is overcoming physical limitations. Let’s be real, at the end of a park day, my feet and legs can be in some serious pain. The walking only keeps you trim for the first few years then becomes normal and everyone thinks you’re crazy when you say you walk 9 miles a day.

This is after I make sure I’m not passing out from dehydration (ya’ll, I can’t stress enough how important it is to stay hydrated throughout a grueling park day). It also goes without saying, but the sun feels like it literally cooks your brain and you have the faded hats to prove it!

Then you gotta deal with the pedestrian traffic. Learning how to lower your blood pressure when 3 strollers pin you in a walkway and nobody wants to move has become a skill. Navigating past the family of 5 who insist on walking slowly and standing shoulder to shoulder using the full walkway is never easy. Disney World gets so busy that navigating the Disney jungle is a tough task most days.

But really, the biggest difficulty is dealing with mental fatigue. That food you love so much that you eat every day just disappeared off the menu with no warning.  You are walking to gate 12 of the Ticket and Transportation Center express monorail station following the instructions of the Cast Member literally yelling for you to “move all the way down” when another guest stops you and says “You wouldn’t be trying to get ahead of us in line would you?”

It’s a lot.

But the biggest (and probably most shocking) difficulty during a Disney day is facing challenges spurned on by other guests.

Let me be clear: The most difficult part is the people. People are also the most wonderful part.

Few things in life are better than watching a kid experience Disney magic for the first time, or a family bonding after an incredible ride experience, or just seeing a Cast Member make someone’s day with a thoughtful gesture. People at Disney World can be absolutely amazing.

But people can also be tough. After a long day, it’s not uncommon to see both kids and adults complain, get short-tempered, or forget other people exist. Nothing is worse than when bad behavior ruins the magic for other folks.

I always have sympathy for them even when their behavior affects me in a negative way. I would rather not fear this energy, but ignore it and rise above instead — and that’s not always easy. People have their reasons when they act out, and sometimes it can be hard to take a step back and just show kindness — but it’s so important to be part of the magic when you’re at Disney World.

  1. The people. Used to go twice a year. Florida residence. Now I just can’t. And I have had step back and remind myself that person who just ran over my kid and kicked my cane is having a “moment”. I have found memories and my daughters loves photo albums with the original epcot and toon town. 10k leagues under the sea.

  2. Maybe I’d go once a week but everyday I can’t imagine what benefit there would be to that. It doesn’t change enough to justify the time.
