Surprise! An Universal Orlando Attraction Quietly Reopened Today

We have been worried about an Universal Orlando ride, but we were pleasantly surprised today to see that the attraction was open again!

The Pteranodon Flyers attraction at Universal Islands of Adventure has been closed for over nine months. Universal had remained quiet about its sudden closure and when it would reopen.

There was no fanfare or red carpet as Pteranodon Flyers FINALLY re-opened this morning at Universal Islands of Adventure. Universal didn’t make any announcements or update its website; the attraction simply opened this morning. When we checked, the ride only had a 10-minute wait!

In mid-April 2024, Pteranodon Flyers unexpectedly closed down without an announcement and appeared on Universal’s list of temporarily closed attractions. No reopening timeframe was listed, and we were getting a bit worried about whether it would reopen. Worry no more because the attraction appears to have reopened based on the app!

Pteranodon Flyers was an opening-day attraction in Islands of Adventure, located in the Camp Jurassic area. Riders slowly soar and gently swing through the air. It is one of the few rides with a maximum and minimum height requirement. The height requirement is 36″ to 56,” with anyone taller than the maximum height only able to ride if they’re accompanying someone within the designated height range.

While it is exciting that this ride has finally reopened after being closed for so long, it isn’t the only exciting thing coming to Universal Orlando. Universal Orlando’s newest theme park, Epic Universe, is less than 100 days from opening. The brand-new park officially opens on May 22nd, 2025, and we can’t wait! The theme park features five themed lands, including Super Nintendo World, Dark Universe, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic.
