Here’s everything we know about the new film!

Captain America: Brave New World is the newest film in the Marvel franchise. It picks up after the events of The Falcon and Winter Soldier, which mean Steve Rogers has passed down the infamous vibranium shield passed down to Sam Wilson, making Sam the new Captain America.

The official synopsis of the film reads, “Anthony Mackie returns as the high-flying hero Sam Wilson, who’s officially taken up the mantle of Captain America. After meeting with newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross, Sam finds himself in the middle of an international incident. He must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red.

Disney also recently released an article discussing how the new film showcases Sam Wilson’s true power, which isn’t in the form of the Super Soldier serum like Steve Rogers had; he has his heart and compassion. In an upcoming Spring 2025 issue of Disney twenty-three, Mackie says, “When President Ross says, ‘You’re not Steve Rogers,’ Sam recognizes and understands that because he doesn’t have the serum. He doesn’t have the backup and the facilities that Steve had. When we first met Sam, he was a counselor. He was a soldier. He was a veteran. His brute force is his humanity, his mind, and his compassion — not his muscles.”

Many Marvel fans are also thrilled to see Harrison Ford taking on the role of U.S. President Thaddeus Ross (played in previous films by the late William Hurt). When asked about the role, Ford said that he studied the “wonderful” performances by Hurt over his five Marvel Cinematic Universe appearances. When asked about the character, he said, “There are things that are happening to President Ross that were happening to him but hadn’t reached the point where they were transformative, if you will. The complications of his life — his relationships with people — were formed without the knowledge of what was committing him to the choices he was making.”

We’ll also get to see Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, AKA the new Falcon, who said the following on his role and relationship with Mackie, he said, “Anthony and I got to know each other in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but in this film, we get to play at our pace. What you see on-screen is what stems organically from our personal relationship.

Also featured in the film is Shira Haas who plays Ruth Bat-Seraph, a former Black Widow and security advisor to President Ross, who said that her character is “a big force” on the journey Wilson and Torres take in the film. We also will see Giancarlo Esposito joining the fray as Seth Voelker/Sidewinder who leads a group of mercenaries called SERPENT. Additionally, after a 15-year hiatus, Tim Blake Nelson will return to the MCU as Samuel Sterns, albeit differently than he was seen in The Incredible Hulk.
