We are just months away from the grand opening of Universal’s brand-new theme park, Epic Universe! To say we are excited is a bit of an understatement.

The new theme park officially opens on May 22nd, 2025. While there is SO much to look forward to at Epic Universe’s five-themed lands, there are also a few alarming red flags about Epic Universe.
The newest Orlando theme park has been built on 750 acres of land and features themed lands such as Super Nintendo World, Dark Universe, How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk, and more. We can’t wait to experience everything this theme park has to offer, but there are a few red flags that our readers mentioned about Epic Universe.

First of all, Jessica and Charles both agreed that the biggest red flag right now is that you can only buy multi-day, multi-park tickets to be able to experience Epic Universe. Unless you are a Universal Orlando Annual Passholder, you can only purchase a 3-day ticket that only includes one day at Epic Universe. However, Universal has announced that additional ticket options will be available closer to opening, but we don’t know when or what type of tickets will be available.

Some of our readers were worried about how busy it would be when it opened. Steve was worried about how busy it will be at the beginning. Leslie also wrote that it “sounds like they might not have enough dining options.” There is a lot of hype around Epic Universe, so we are definitely expecting large crowds for opening day and for a fair amount of time after. The theme park has been years in the making, and lots of people are very excited.

Another red flag that Shawn mentioned is “its location in comparison to the original theme parks.” Currently, Universal’s parks are very close together, but Epic Universe will be a good distance away. There will be a parking lot at Epic Universe, and Universal will provide buses between the two areas, but we feel there will be some chaos due to Epic Universe’s location.Â

Amelia wrote about a red flag with The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic area. Amelia wrote that “they are trying to mash up Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter in the same land (land and ride are themed differently). That is going to annoy me.” Although Amelia wrote that she is super excited other than that and will be there on opening day.

We also can’t help but share Crystalyn’s thoughts about the red flags of Epic Universe. Well, it is more of a specific spot at Epic Universe. And it may or may not be a red flag that is flying inside of Super Nintendo World. We agree, Crystalyn, that is definitely a red flag!

However, even though some of our readers have worries about Epic Universe, we also got a lot of comments that simply said they don’t see any red flags so far. Debbie, Christina, Andrea, and Randall all agreed that they don’t think there are any flags. Lots of our readers also expressed how excited they are about Epic Universe, whether or not they saw any red flags!

I see no red flags save for the ones in Super Nintendo Land. I’m sure all of you at Allears will be there on opening weekend (and likely before when press previews begin) and will have a great time!
The discussed “red flags” sound like people being silly to me. of course there will be some teething issues as a brand new park learns how to run and people learn how to interact. Travel time (once the road work is complete) between Epic Universe and the rest of Universal will NOT be longer than between various of the Disney Orlando parks! Almost certainly more rapid by the electric bus fleet. And as for the two different times/franchises in the Wizarding World, no one is worried about the several different games in Nintendo Land! Or the different monsters from different movies story lines coming together in Dark Universe. Stop making a big deal out of nothing.
Also, the predominance of time turners in the Wizarding World portal and merch indicates that time travel is an intentional part of the experience and should be enjoyed!!!
