Growing up, a lot of kids seemed to either be Team Disney Channel or Team Nickelodeon. Even though I’m a full-fledged Disney adult now, I wasn’t actually a huge Disney kid. In fact, I was more of a Nickelodeon fan.

My favorite show was Victorious, which premiered in 2010 when I was about nine. The show follows a group of talented teens at a performing arts high school called Hollywood Arts, and it’s easily what prompted my love for acting and performing. The show aired its final episode in 2013, but it’s still my comfort show. So imagine the JOY that ran through my body when I heard the big news — Victorious is getting a SPINOFF at Nickelodeon!
It’s true! Deadline has reported that a new spinoff show is in the works at Nickelodeon, but it gets even better — Daniella Monet, known for playing Trina Vega on Victorious, is on board to STAR in it! The working title of the spinoff series is Hollywood Arts at this time, but it very well could change. The story follows Trina “returning to her old stomping grounds as the newest teacher at Hollywood’s most elite performing arts school.”

Now, if you watched this show, you’ll know that one of the most prominent jokes is that Trina can’t sing to save her life. However, she thinks she sounds incredible and won’t listen to any criticism, but does often try new remedies to help her sing better. The first instance happens in the pilot of Victorious, where she drinks a herb gargle to help her singing improve. Instead, her tongue swells up so bad she can’t sing, and that’s where her sister Tori, the lead of the show, somewhat unwillingly steps in to take her place, granting her a place at the school. So, what is she teaching at Hollywood Arts? Personally, I can’t wait to find out!

Daniella Monet also serves as an executive producer on the series alongside writers/executive producers Jake Farrow (writer-producer on both Victorious as well as the voice of Rex) and Samantha Martin.

At this time, it’s too early to know if any of the other original stars from Victorious will return to the spinoff, but I’ll personally be keeping a close eye on any more news surrounding this series and will keep you updated! Be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest news!
