Actress Linda Lavin Passed Away at Age 87

It’s always a sad day when we have to say goodbye to a beloved celebrity.

2024 has been a year of a few significant losses, and now, we unfortunately have to add another legend to that list.

Deadline reports that actress Linda Lavin has passed away. She was a stage and TV actress known for her role in the 1976 sitcom Alice and for her Tony-winning performance in the 1986 play Broadway Bound.

She passed away on Sunday, December 29th at age 87. This news is rather surprising, considering Lavin was working as recently as this month. She’s been promoting her new Netflix show No Good Deed and filming a new Hulu series called Mid-Century ModernHer PR representative says that she passed from complications due to recently-discovered lung cancer.

Lavin’s stage credits include It’s a Bird…It’s a Plane…It’s Superman, Little Murders, and Last of the Red Hot Lovers. Later on, she appeared in multiple television shows, including Barney Miller, Sean Saves the World, 9JKL, and B Positive.

Hulu and 20th Television released a joint statement about Lavin’s passing, saying, “Our deepest and heartfelt condolences go to Linda Lavin’s family and loved ones,” the companies said. “She was a legend in our industry, bringing her tremendous talent to audiences for over seven decades. She will be forever missed by her Mid-Century Modern family, as we mourn this incredible loss together.”
