NEWS: Disney’s Avengers Campus Expansion Takes BIG Step Forward

Disneyland just took the first steps towards beginning work on the Avengers Campus expansion at Disneyland Resort!

Disney officially announced the expansion at the 2024 D23 Expo, and we have an update on where the project currently stands.

According to the Orange County Register, Disneyland has taken the first steps to prepare for the Avengers Campus expansion at Disney California Adventure. The expansion will be adding two brand-new attractions to the Avengers Campus and doubling the size of the current area.

Disneyland has officially submitted the plan for expansion preparations to the city of Anaheim. The plan is currently under review by city officials. This plan is the first step in the expansion and focuses on backstage preparations for the construction. It addresses “addresses utilities, temporary trailers, and parking lots in the backstage area behind Avengers Campus that would be impacted by the expansion.”

This initial plan is just a prep work plan which is submitted “before the city grants a demolition permit and before Disneyland submits plans for the Avengers Campus expansion.” It is anticipated that construction on the Avengers Campus expansion will begin sometime in 2025.

Not only will this expansion be doubling the size of Avengers Campus, but it will also be adding two new attractions. The first attraction is called Avengers Infinity Defense. In this attraction, “technology that allows the Avengers to jump between worlds has gone missing, and King Thanos is using it to wreak havoc everywhere.” You will be joining the mission and may even come face-to-face with King Thanos.

The second attraction is called Stark Flight Lab. You will feel like a superhero as you are seated in two-person pods and deployed to a test station. You will experience simulated flight and might even meet Mr. Stark! While construction is expected to begin in 2025, Disney has not yet announced when we can expect this expansion to open.
