It Is Frankly Absurd Disney World Hasn’t Brought These 7 Things Back Yet

I’d say Disney World really has gotten back into the swing of things, wouldn’t you?

Magic Kingdom

I mean, the crowds have been packing in, the fireworks have been booming, and long lines have really been making us question our life decisions. That being said, there still a good number of things still missing from the parks, and frankly we’re a bit baffled by it. So, let’s talk about it!

As we were saying, it’s 2024, and most of the world has returned to normalcy. Crowds have long since flooded back into Disney World, new rides are opening, and Mickey-shaped treats are more popular than ever. Yet, some key Disney experiences that disappeared during the pandemic are still MIA. What’s the deal with that?

Let’s dive into seven things Disney World hasn’t brought back yet and maybe some one can get Disney on the line so we could find out what’s the hold-up?

Restaurant Marrakesh (Morocco Pavilion, EPCOT)

Remember the good old days of strolling through the Morocco Pavilion at EPCOT, taking in the gorgeous architecture, and then sitting down for a delicious meal at Restaurant Marrakesh? Well, don’t get too excited. The restaurant still hasn’t reopened since the pandemic shut it down.

Restaurant Marrakesh

Sure, it’s being used as a Passholder Lounge, but let’s be real. A few comfy chairs and some AC won’t replace the experience of eating mouth-watering dishes while watching live entertainment.

Florida Blue Medicare Lounge

This iconic restaurant, known for its vibrant atmosphere and authentic Moroccan dishes, was a hidden gem in the World Showcase. The fact that it’s still not back, when other restaurants have returned, still boggles the mind. I mean, how long can we wait to be transported to the streets of Marrakesh without having to leave Florida?

Garden View Tea Room (Grand Floridian)

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is known for its elegance and high-end experiences, but there’s one beloved spot that still hasn’t returned — the Garden View Tea Room.

It’s empty!

This was the place to enjoy afternoon tea in classic British style. With all the fancy tea, finger sandwiches, scones, and more, it was a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of the parks.

Garden View Tea Room

Pre-COVID, it was one of those spots that made you feel like royalty without having to splurge on a castle stay. But now? Cue the sound of crickets. For anyone who loves a good tea service (or just an excuse to escape the crowds and pamper yourself), the absence of the Garden View Tea Room is a serious bummer.

Finger Sandwiches

Honestly, we can’t wait to enjoy some tea and a cucumber sandwich again.

Tomorrowland Terrace (Magic Kingdom)

While Tomorrowland might not have the futuristic utopia vibes Walt Disney originally imagined, it did have a quick-service restaurant that made grabbing a bite in Magic Kingdom easy. Or at least it did, before COVID.

Tomorrowland Terrace is EMPTY most of the time!

Tomorrowland Terrace has been reduced to a venue for special events and dessert parties, but no regular, drop-in-and-grab-a-meal type of service.

Firework dessert parties are often served here

Currently, it feels like we’re stuck in some weird limbo where this restaurant exists but doesn’t really exist, and since Magic Kingdom can be a madhouse, having a quick, reliable option in the heart of Tomorrowland is sorely needed.

Package Delivery

Now, this one hurts. Do you remember how pre-pandemic, you could shop ‘til you dropped at Disney World and have your bags sent back to your resort (or even to the front of the park) so you didn’t have to haul them around all day?

Package Delivery

It was genius! But now, package delivery service is still nowhere to be seen. If you want to buy that Mickey plush, those Haunted Mansion ears, and those Star Wars action figures, well, I hope you brought an extra backpack because you’re gonna be carrying them with you all day.

Room Service (Except at Grand Floridian)

Okay, so room service is available at the Grand Floridian, but what about the rest of us who aren’t staying at one of Disney World’s ritziest hotel? Disney’s room service offerings have been sparse post-COVID, and it’s honestly shocking.

Room service, anyone?

After a long day of standing in lines, running from Lightning Lane to Lightning Lane, and managing a family meltdown, the ability to kick back in your room and some Mickey-shaped treats should be a no-brainer. So, Disney, if you’re listening, how about helping us out and bringing this one back at all the resorts?

Tables in Wonderland

For those of us who loved saving a few bucks while dining at Disney World, Tables in Wonderland was a godsend. This dining discount program, was the key to getting 20% off food and drinks at tons of Disney World restaurants. How about post-COVID, though? Well, it vanished into thin air, and Disney hasn’t given us much of an update on when or if it will ever return.

Tables in Wonderland

Sure, there’s the Disney Dining Plan, but it’s not the same, and honestly, with Disney World prices, every little bit helps. We’d love to see this one back pronto.

Citizens of Main Street & Hollywood Studios

Ah, the Citizens of Main Street in Magic Kingdom and the Citizens of Hollywood in Hollywood Studios. These streetmosphere performers were the unsung heroes of a Disney day.

Citizens of Hollywood

With their witty banter, over-the-top costumes, and impromptu interactions with guests, they added an extra layer of magic to the parks that can’t be replicated. They made you feel like you were stepping into a fully immersive world, whether it was turn-of-the-century Main Street, U.S.A., or the Golden Age of Hollywood.

Citizens of Hollywood

But where are they now? Sadly, they’re nowhere to be found. Without them, it feels like something is missing in the parks. Sure, there are still shows and cavalcades, but these performers were unique in the way they engaged directly with guests. I think it’s about time to bring back the Citizens, don’t you?

Citizens of Hollywood

There you have it. These are seven things that Disney World has yet to bring back post-COVID, and it’s honestly absurd that we’re still waiting.

  1. Consider yourself lucky if you have experienced any of the attractions mentioned as they are now only memories and not returning to their original setting. Port Orleans still offers every other-day maid service as well as the quality of food at the resort food courts
