We know just as well as anyone that Disney Parks vacations aren’t always the best way to relax. But you know what IS relaxing? A Disney cruise!
Disney Dream Mickey Funnel
Disney Cruise Line is having a big year with the opening of Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point earlier this summer, as well as the launch of the Disney Treasure cruise ship at the end of the year. But now, Disney Cruise Line has another big announcement to add to that list!
Disney just announced a new agreement with Oriental Land Co., Ltd. (OLC) that will bring year-round Disney cruise vacations to Japan! With the agreement, OLC will operate a Disney-branded cruise business in Japan, expected to launch by early 2029.
Emma with Mickey and Minnie!
OLC already has a strong relationship with Disney, as the operator of Tokyo Disney Resort, one of the most popular Disney resorts. It seems that this cruise relationship will be similar, with Disney branding but with OLC taking the reins.
Fantasy Springs
A new Disney cruise ship will be constructed at Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, and will be based in Japan year-round. The design will be put together by Walt Disney Imagineers. It will be a sister ship to the Disney Wish and will have some modifications with Japanese guests in mind.

The new ship will weigh approximately 140,000 gross tons and have about 1,250 staterooms, along with several of the venues and offerings that fans love from the Disney Wish. Like other Disney cruises, you’ll get the chance to enjoy “incredible entertainment, world-class dining, and exceptional guest service that set Disney cruises apart.”

More details about the ship, its maiden voyages, and its onboard offerings will be announced at a later date. It’s so exciting to see the Disney Cruise Line fleet continue to grow! This will be a great addition for Japanese Disney fans, allowing them the chance to enjoy a Disney cruise experience without having to travel across the world to board a ship.
Keg and Compass (Disney Wish)
This is the second major announcement about international cruising that Disney has shared recently. Last year, Disney shared that a new ship called the Disney Adventure will be based in Singapore. It’s set to have its maiden voyage in 2025.
Ultimately, Disney Cruise Line keeps growing and we can’t wait to see what comes next! We’ll keep you in the loop with any more important announcements, so stay tuned to AllEars.
