A Disney Celebrity Is TAKING OVER the Empire State Building

We’re used to covering all of the events that take place INSIDE the Disney parks, but sometimes special Disney-themed things are happening around the rest of the world!

For example, Disney just announced that they are hosting a D23 Day at Angel Stadium (more on that here) and now something is happening in New York City!

May 4th (AKA Star Wars Day) is coming up before we know it and New York City is starting the celebration early. Hayden Christensen, the actor best known for playing Anakin Skywalker, will participate in a lighting ceremony at the Empire State Building!

The lighting takes place on Thursday, March 21st and employees at the building’s observatory will carry lightsabers while costumed characters make appearances throughout the day. As if the view from 86 floors up wasn’t cool enough, people get to do it with Stormtroopers and lightsabers?! The Empire State Building shared a fun video of the event on X (formerly known as Twitter).

That’s not all though — a special Star Wars-themed villains-focused Fifth Avenue window display will be revealed. If you have tickets to go inside the Empire State, you can check out the photo opportunity with Funko on the 86th floor, a LEGO Star Wars exhibit, and an immersive experience from Hasbro and Amazon. This kicks off Disney Consumer Products and Lucasfilm’s “March to May the 4th” campaign. What a way to honor Star Wars, and honestly, we should start celebrating even EARLIER.
