Do NOT Wait Until the Last Minute To Buy a Checked Bag for Your Flight

Since we travel so much, we’ve grown accustomed to the chaos that comes with it. We have some travel tips we swear by to be as efficient as possible, our FAVORITE carry-on bag, and even some experience losing things at the airport. With all of that, we generally have a set of expectations that we will face when it comes to traveling. However, one of those expectations was just shattered…with a price increase.

Traveling already comes with a hefty price tag, and it looks like it may be getting even more expensive. JetBlue has rolled out some price increases that will impact travelers looking to check a bag.

If you haven’t booked a JetBlue flight recently, this may not be something you have noticed. If you want to buy a checked bag prior to your trip, the going rate is $35. However, if you decide you want to purchase a checked bag within 24 hours before your departure time, it will cost you an extra $10.

When booking with JetBlue, the airline offers a few different tiers of tickets you can buy — Blue Basic, Blue, Blue Plus, and Blue Extra. These tiers come with their own perks, but keep in mind that the Blue Plus ticket includes your first checked bag.

When talking with the airline about these price increases, JetBlue told Fox Business that this was a means to keep things like in-flight wifi and screen usage free for all of its guests. The company has been struggling to make a profit, so they are hoping this increase can mend that gap.

If you decide you want a checked bag, make sure you buy them early so you don’t get that added $10 fee! Note that this rule applies to other airlines, too, so whenever possible, try to check those bags as early as possible!
