We Tried the Newest Harry Potter Land Snack at Universal Orlando (And We Think It Could Dethrone Butterbeer 😱)

It’s not every day that we spot something new in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando, but this time was the exception!

It’s so pretty!

Universal’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter is home to some of the greatest snacks to leap from the book pages to life with inventive favorites like Chocolate Frogs and Butterbeer in all of its various forms. Recently though, a new ice cream flavor has lept onto the scene and it appears to have made quite the impression already.

Deep in the throws of Diagon Alley, you can venture over to Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlour for a sweet-tasting treat. This artisanal ice cream shop specializes in all the magical mixture flavors of the Wizarding World including the ever-popular Butterbeer flavor.

However, on one of our most recent visits, we noticed a new flavor being offered… and of course, we had to try it (in the name of research!)

What’s this?

We hopped in the line, placed our order, and within moments we were left holding a scoop of Huckleberry ice cream in a waffle cone. This scoop cost us $7.49 and takes on a purple-ish creamy look.

When we tried a bite, the huckleberry taste was more sweet and less bitter or sour. It’s pretty true to what you would expect and has an almost “tutti fruitti” taste to it. If that last comparison was less familiar to you, it’s almost a cross between blueberry and blackberry.

It’s purple

The flavor works well for what the namesake title attempts to convey to you, and we certainly wouldn’t mind a few more scoops on a future visit. The only thing we could find fault with this ice cream is that it’s capable of melting quickly — but that goes for most ice cream in Florida!

Not too melty

You won’t have to be too concerned with that until it’s been a bit since you were handed the ice cream and have had it against the warmth of your hand for a while.
