The future is now — or something like that.

Since Disney+ debuted back in 2019, it’s gone through a few updates and price increases, but now the service is changing in a major way — and we’ve got all the details you need to know!

During the Q2 Earnings Call in 2023, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that Disney would offer a “one-app experience” that would incorporate Hulu content under the Disney+ app. With this app, you’ll be able to access both Hulu and Disney+ content in one place. And now, that day has finally come!

Hulu on Disney+ has started rolling out its beta version to Bundle subscribers as of December 7th, 2023. The official launch will be in the spring of 2024.

Joe Earley, President of the Direct-To-Consumer Division at Disney Entertainment, shared more about the update, commenting that as of today, when Bundle subscribers log on to Disney+, they’ll see Hulu titles appear next to Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and NatGeo titles.

If you click on a Hulu title, you’ll be brought to a Hulu Hub where you can choose from “thousands of movies and series from Hulu’s library for playback via Disney+.” Exclusive Hulu content will be available directly in the app without having to switch back and forth between the two.

Keep in mind that this is the beta version, with the official launch happening in March of next year. The beta version will allow Disney to “understand the consumer’s needs and wants” before the spring launch.

“It’s an exciting next step for Direct-to-Consumer, but it’s important that people have managed expectations about what the experience is going to be,” Earley said.

But, if you’re not a bundle customer, don’t worry. Both individual apps will still be available as separate apps. Hulu + Life TV and Premium add-ons (like Showtime) will only be available through the Hulu app.

These changes are just the latest update in a long list of attempts by Disney and CEO Bob Iger to make Disney+ profitable.

“One of the things that Hulu on Disney+ is going to achieve is it’s going to increase engagement, which reduces churn,” Earley shared. “When someone goes into Disney+ they have this enormous other world to access and I think that people are going to discover content they never even realized was on Hulu.”

  1. The mergers are very much like a money grab…My biggest concern is when ESPN starts entering the gambling world…do you think casinos and slot machines will be entering the gates of the Magic Kingdom?
