NEWS: Disney Announces Plans to Build a NEW Residential Community in North Carolina

Have you ever dreamed of living in a Disney neighborhood with Disney touches EVERYWHERE?

Well, Disney continues to build upon its Storyliving by Disney concept. One such neighborhood is already being built in California, but now Disney has announced another Storyliving community — and this one will be in North Carolina.

Disney recently shared a first look at plans for its newest residential community, which will be called Asteria. The community “is being designed to encourage exploration, spark life-long learning, and create new connections for future residents.”

Storyliving is working with Disney Imagineers and DMB Development to create a new community. This one will be “inspired by Walt Disney’s innate curiosity and passion for learning.” It will take inspiration from that, as well as North Carolina’s universities mixed with “a touch of Disney magic.”

The Asteria community will sit on around 1,500 acres in Chatham County, just outside Raleigh, North Carolina.

Disney plans on including North Carolina’s natural landscape and history to imagine the new community. Nature will always be on display, “blurring the lines of indoor and outdoor living.” The neighborhood will also feature huge parks and miles of walking and biking trails. Asteria is also named after the aster, a flower native to North Carolina.

Asteria will also include a club with “amenities and programming designed to encourage learning and connectivity.” This club will include tons of spaces for those living there, including a rec center, restaurant, sports courts, swimming pools, gardens, and more. There will be Disney-themed games and activities, as well as storytelling dinners inspired by Disney’s own stories.

There will be a range of home styles to choose from, and Disney plans for more than 4,000 residential units to be available, with some sites designated specifically for adults 55 years and older.
