Getting On 2 Disney World Rides Just Got EASIER

Now that December has arrived, the anticipation is starting to set in!

The holidays are here!

For what, you may ask? Well, the new year! In 2024, Disney World will undergo some BIG changes, some as early as January. One of the BIGGEST ones will take place on January 9th. Folks will once again be able to park hop ALL DAY! Let’s talk about it.

Since the 2020 Disney World closures, folks could only park hop after 2PM each day. After January 9th, however, you’ll be able to park hop whenever you want.

While this is convenient for MANY reasons, like being able to do more of what YOU want throughout your Disney day, there’s one thing in particular that will be a LOT easier for many of us.

Joining virtual queues! Yep, riding TRON: Lightcycle / Run and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind could be much easier soon. Let us explain.

To ride these rides, you currently either have to purchase an Individual Lightning Lane or join the virtual queue. The virtual queue openings are at 7AM and 1PM each day. For the 7AM virtual queue, you currently need a park reservation to join, though park reservation requirements are ALSO going away in January for most tickets (sorry, Annual Passholders). For the 1PM virtual queue, you need to physically be IN the parks.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

So, if you head to Magic Kingdom in the morning and grab a 7AM virtual queue for TRON, you won’t be able to get a virtual queue for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, because you can’t park hop to EPCOT until 2PM, and the virtual queue starts at 1PM and usually sells out quickly.

However, with the park hopping update in January, you’ll be able to head to the park BEFORE the second VQ opens! While the 1PM virtual queues tend to go just as fast as the morning ones a lot of the time, it’s a chance at riding regardless.
