How Disney Has CHANGED Mickey Mouse Over the Last 100 Years

100 years of Disney means that the beloved mouse that started it all has seen some changes!

There are so many new ways to celebrate like with new fireworks shows, a brand-new attraction, new decor, and new snacks. However, Disney is taking us back in time with a reel about all of the stylistic changes our pal Mickey has seen throughout the 100 years!

Mickey sure has changed throughout the years!

Animator Michael Woodside with Disney Animation draws three versions of Mickey Mouse and shares some facts along the way!

He begins to draw Mickey Mouse the way he was drawn in the 20s!  With a very simple silhouette, round eyes, and less detail.

He then goes on to draw Mickey Mouse with what he calls “pie wedge” eyes.  He details that after Steamboat Willie came out, the way Mickey Mouse was drawn stayed consistent for another 10-12 years, before becoming what we know today.

Michael Woodside then draws the final Mickey Mouse and explains that once Fantasia came out, the way Mickey was drawn stayed consistent and is what we recognize today as Mickey Mouse!

What a fun piece of Disney history and a wonderful way to celebrate 100 years of Disney!
