What Are the Crowds Like During a SOLD OUT After Hours Event in Magic Kingdom?

Can you believe it?! After Hours events are back at Disney World!

It’s time!

It’s been a while since these special events have been available for guests but they have returned to both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom. We already visited Hollywood Studios for After Hours on the night of its grand return — now it’s time for Magic Kingdom!

After Hours events are specialty ticketed events that allows you to spend 3 hours inside the park after it closes. This means Disney limits the number of people inside the parks which is why ride lines are usually short and the parks feel empty.

After Hours is back

But the first night of After Hours in Magic Kingdom is sold out, so just how empty is the park?

Guests with an After Hours ticket can get into the park as early as 7PM — let’s just say the mix of regular park guests, After Hours guests, and fireworks made it pretty busy around this time.

Watching Disney Enchantment fireworks is one of the perks of being able to enter the parks before the actual event starts. Just be prepared for some serious crowds!

Fireworks crowds

After the fireworks ended, a big crowd of people started heading for the exit.

It was still a bit busy, but we did get some more breathing room.

Clearing out

Once the area around Cinderella Castle cleared out, the park looked empty for the most part! We passed by Cool Ship where we saw a long line to get complimentary snacks.

Pro tip: we went to the snack cart in the hub area and it had a very short line!

Longest line we’ve seen so far

Tomorrowland Speedway was a walk-on…

…and so was Space Mountain with a 5-minute posted wait time.

5 minute wait? Yes, please!

Here’s a look at the wait times at 10:45PM ET.

Wait times

Most attractions had a wait time of 5 minutes which basically means you can walk right on!

5 minutes everywhere

The longest wait times we saw at this time was 25 minutes for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. This is still much shorter than the usual wait time during the day!

After Hours events in Magic Kingdom happen on select nights through March 2023, but dates are already selling out! If you want to go to this event, we recommend grabbing tickets soon.

  1. I’m going on March 16, and I’m so excited for it. Snacks and short ride lines. I’m doing it instead of a second day at MK.
