Every Big Construction CHANGE Happening in Disney World

New restaurants, rides, and hotel updates, oh my!

Cinderella Castle

There are some big changes coming to Disney World in the next few months and years, and we are READY. We’ve been watching the construction progress on a variety of projects that are currently underway, and we’re excited to share the latest updates with you today!

Magic Kingdom

Let’s start out with the TRON coaster construction, where things are progressing quickly toward the finish line! The Walt Disney World Railroad tracks are now lined up through the new tunnel, and landscaping is continuing on the outside of the building.

TRON Construction

We saw many trees get planted recently, and crews are getting closure to completing the walkways leading to the ride. We can’t wait to see what it looks like all lit up at night!

And speaking of the railroad, we’re almost to the point of completion on this construction! The tracks have yet to be reattached all the way to the Fantasyland station, but they’re much closer than they were before.

Heading to the front of the park, we’ve got construction expanded on Center Street. The walls are now lined up with the main walkway down Main Street, U.S.A. as crews work overnight to replace the bricks on this side path.

This project has been ongoing for a while now, but we’ll continue to watch it for updates!

EPCOT

Over at EPCOT, the middle of the park is one big construction zone right now, but things are very busy! The projects are set to be completed by the end of 2023, and we’ve seen some updates recently with Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana, including the addition of faux greenery on the rock work.

Construction workers were seen multiple times on new scaffolding in the past few days, and we’re interested to see what details get added after this week. It’s already looking really cool, and we can’t wait to see it completed!

We’ll keep a close watch on these projects in the coming days to see if there are any changes.

Hollywood Studios

At Hollywood Studios, we’ve got a big update on Roundup Rodeo BBQ in Toy Story Land — it looks like the sign is up! It’s still covered by a tarp at this point, but we’re excited to see what it looks like when it’s unveiled.

The restaurant is set to open before the end of this year, but Disney still hasn’t announced a opening date. We’ll be on the lookout for more news and possible details about the menu!

Disney Hotels

Now let’s move on to the hotels. Starting at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, a refurbishment is now underway at the Copper Creek Villas. The outside of the building is covered in scaffolding and you might hear some construction noises if you’re staying at this hotel.

At the Polynesian Village Resort, it looks like materials have arrived to start laying the foundation for the new DVC villas that will be built by the water. We’ve seen a lot of dirt move around in the past few months, but it looks like we’re taking a step forward!

And finally, we’ve got construction progress at the BoardWalk Inn! This resort is set to get some major upgrades and it looks like things are starting with the closure of Dundy’s Sundries. The shop (located next to the lobby) has shut down and the windows were covered with black cloth. We could hear construction noises coming from inside during our visit.

Goodbye, Dundy’s!

That’s everything we’ve got in terms of construction updates this week, but we’ll be on the lookout for more changes in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. There are some exciting projects that will be completed in 2023, and we can’t wait!
