Why I’m “Not Embarrassed” to Call Myself a Disney Adult

What is a “Disney Adult?” You probably have your own idea of what that means in your head, but it’s a little different for everyone.

Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather

It’s a term that’s on the newer side, and usually generally refers to people who are obsessed with everything Disney, whether that be the movies and TV shows, visiting the theme parks, or both. But, who considers themselves a regular Disney fan versus a “Disney Adult?” That seems to be up to the individual person, so we wanted to get some other opinions.

We asked Disney fans, “Do you tell people you’re a “Disney Adult?” Why or why not?” And, we got some interesting answers! Let’s break it down.

“I Don’t Have To!”

The most common answer was that they don’t even have to tell people that they’re a “Disney Adult” because it’s obvious! One person said “I don’t need to tell people. Somehow they know. It could be my Disney clothes, or the ears displayed on my living room wall, or the Disney-related posts on Facebook.”

Mickey Mouse

Another said “Um, most people just inately know. I’m usually dressed in something Disney related, carry only Disney Loungefly, and use a Disney credit card.”

  1. Adults who enjoy Disney Parks are now being accused of what “appropriating childhood” Is having a good time after 12 years old now a crime? Really chill out! Walt did not put a sign on the fence “All adults must be accompanied by a child”, Disney is a place to enjoy fun and innocence and in this day and age we need more of both.

    1. Agree 100%. As an Annual Passholder for many years, I’m proud to be a Disney Adult. Many, many times I go to the parks by myself and can’t tell you how much I enjoy doing so. No rushing so I get to take all the time I want to look around. There’s lots to see and do (no, I never get bored) but I find the faces of the kids when they meet their favorite character for the first time to be priceless. Just being at Disney is enough for me. And if that makes me a Disney Adult, I’ll proudly take the title.
