Get the kiddos ready — it’s time to take a new adventure with our friends from Radiator Springs!

Disney+ has been full of all kinds of Marvel and Star Wars series — Obi-Wan Kenobi, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and more. But what about a series for the little ones? Well, it’s time to jump back into the world of Cars, and take a look at the new series, Cars on the Road!
Looking for a fun, light-hearted show, filled with interesting scenarios and familiar characters? Then this is the show for you!

We were invited to attend a virtual press conference for Cars on the Road and view the episodes ahead of the premiere. The press conference featured:
- Larry the Cable Guy (Mater)
- Marc Sondheimer (Producer)
- Steve Purcell (Director of Episodes 1, 2, and 8)
- Brian Fee (Director of Episodes 3, 4, and 7)
- Bobby Podesta (Director of Episodes 5, 6, and 9)
Alright, let’s jump right into it!
Cars on the Road follows Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) as they journey on a cross-country road trip to see Mater’s sister. And, as you’d expect, chaotic fun ensues. During the press conference, Marc Sondheimer explained that this series really allowed the characters to be placed in unique and interesting scenarios that have an overall message and theme.

Each episode follows the dynamic duo in vastly different scenarios — all sights and situations one may experience on their own road trip. Throughout this series, we get to watch Lightning McQueen and Mater as they move through Haunted motels, circus shows, roadside attractions, truck stops, races, and even a hunt for Big Foot!

New characters are added into the mix, providing new storylines and connections. Steve Purcell pointed out that we even get to see aspects of Lightning McQueen and Mater that we haven’t seen before, courtesy of the unique scenarios they find themselves in.

Oh — and easter eggs? You’ll find plenty. In fact, Marc Sondheimer confirmed that there’s a Pizza Planet truck in every single episode. So you’ll definitely want to keep an eye out for that.
And some episodes even pay homage to other films or pieces of content. For example, Marc Sondheimer said they incorporated “Harryhausen stop motion assimilation” into the episode where they visit a Dino-Park.

And if your little one isn’t familiar with the Cars franchise yet — don’t worry. These episodes require zero knowledge on the background of Cars, and can be a great starting point to get the kids excited about the characters. Larry the Cable Guy shared in the conference that it’s just two friends on an adventure, and it’ll hook kids right into the world of Cars and inspire them to watch the films.

Overall, this is a fun series for the entire family. And who doesn’t like a good road trip? If you want to watch the series for yourself, it will be premiering on Disney+ on September 8th, 2022. Be sure to let us know what you think!
