If you’ve spent any time traveling by airplane recently, chances are you may have experienced crowded airports, delayed, and even canceled flights altogether.

We’ve been keeping an eye out for the latest travel news so you’re prepared for your next Disney trip and beyond, and not all of it has been positive as of late. But, one airline has updated a policy that might make it easier for you to get to your next destination and we’re sharing everything you need to know.

Southwest Airlines has updated its flight credit policy in a move that might ease the pain of that canceled flight or fare downgrade. In the past, when Southwest issued flight credits for canceled trips they came with a rather large caveat — an expiration date.

Mickey and Minnie!

That isn’t the case anymore, though, as Southwest flight credits unexpired or created on or after July 28th, 2022 will no longer expire. This means that if you have a current flight credit with an expiration date after July 27th, 2022 (not on or before), that expiration date no longer applies.

Additionally, all future flight credits issued by Southwest will be able to be used at your convenience.

The airline did note that it may take their system a bit of time to update with the new policy, and you might still notice an expiration date on your flight credit — but that doesn’t mean it still applies as long as is dated on or after July 28th.
