How Does Marvel's Newest Movie Stack Up In Box Office Earnings?

Thor: Love and Thunder has just premiered in movie theaters around the world, and it’s already having some major success.

The movie is the 4th film in Marvel’s Thor franchise and stars Natalie Portman, Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Christian Bale, and Taika Waititi (who is also the director) among others. We’ve seen Disney celebrating the movie with merchandise, food, and additions to the parks, and the celebrations should continue, because Thor is having a great opening weekend at the box office!

Thor: Love and Thunder has grossed $77.6 million around the world so far, according to Deadline. The movie brought in $29 million just in Thursday previews domestically,

Tracking predicts that Thor will have the 2nd or 3rd best opening of the pandemic era with $150 million or more domestically, and possibly over $300 million globally, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In comparison, Spider-Man: No Way Home grossed $50 million in previews domestically, for a start of $260 million. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness began with $36 million in previews to its domestic launch of $187.4 million.

These numbers also make Thor: Love and Thunder the fifth-largest domestic preview opening in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to Collider.

So, how will this movie do overall? Could we see Thor: Love and Thunder reaching the heights of movies like Spider-Man: No Way Home or Avengers: Endgame? We’ll have to wait and see!
