When you’re heading to Orlando for vacation, there’s one big problem that you can’t always plan for — the weather!
Sure you can pack your ponchos and bring a change of clothes, but sometimes the weather shuts things down, especially during hurricane season. And if you’re traveling to (or from) Orlando today, you may experience some big delays at the airport!
Earlier this morning, the Orlando International Airport (MCO) shared on Twitter that there might be flight and baggage delivery delays due to the storms in the area. This morning, there was a severe thunderstorm warning for multiple cities in that area.
Weather Alert ⛈️ Due to thunderstorms in the area, flights/baggage delivery delays may occur. Please check with your airline directly for any updates in regards to their operations at this time. For airport delays, visit: https://t.co/vm0yMYHkcv https://t.co/9EhB50ttKG

Later on in the morning, Eric Burrus from WESH Orlando reported that a ground stop had been issued at MCO. This call impacts both incoming and outgoing flights, so if you’re traveling today, you can likely expect delays.
A 'Ground Stop' has been issued for @MCO due to storms in the area- holding some flights from heading our way. This will of course impact inbound and then outbound flights. We will be watching things closely and updating you as we get information…
