The past few months have been rather tumultuous for The Walt Disney Company.

They’ve been tangled up in a few different controversies, mostly regarding recent legislation in the state of Florida. Previously, the Florida Senate and House of Representatives passed a bill to dissolve the Reedy Creek Improvement District (the arrangement that essentially lets Disney World act as its own government), and it was signed by the Florida Governor. We’ve also seen Disney’s name in the news related to the Parental Rights in Education Bill, no-fly zones, and some issues surrounding copyright. Following these events, Disney stock has taken a serious hit.
Back on April 22nd, 2022, Walt Disney Company stock closed at $118.27, which (at the time) was the lowest number we had seen in 2022. According to Yahoo, it started the day at $120.01 and hit a high of $121.89 on that day, which is still pretty low for the company.

Back in January and February, numbers were hanging out in the $150s, and toward the end of 2021, it was even up into the $170s and $180s per share.
UPDATE: Stock values have continued to drop for the Walt Disney Company. According to Yahoo finance, on May 10th, 2022, Disney’s stock price was around $108.57.

The last time Disney saw numbers close to this was around late June of 2020, at which point the value was around $109.10.

When was the last time Disney stock prices were LOWER than the $108 value from May 10th, 2022? Well, it looks like the last time that the stock dropped below that price was around late April/early May of 2020, at which point it was priced around $105.50.

Compared to the values in the $80s that were seen back in March of 2020, this is an improvement. But it is much less than the higher values seen through part of 2021. Disney’s next earnings call is scheduled for May 11th, 2022. At that point, Disney could share news that could change stock prices.
We’ll continue to monitor these numbers and watch their fluctuations with all the big events going on.

Chapek should already have been fired. At this rate how long can the shareholders put up with him? I don’t see him making it past September 1.
I so hope you are right.
