Disney+ has been releasing lots of new content — like Moon Knight, which is currently dropping a new episode every Wednesday on the platform!

But there’s still more to look forward to — like the new National Treasure series! So far we’ve heard about the casting of the lead for this show, but now we’ve gotten an exciting update about a National Treasure alum who will be coming back in a guest role!
Riley Poole was not just a computer expert in the original National Treasure — he was also Benjamin Franklin Gates’ best friend. Those who enjoyed his role in the National Treasure movie will be happy to hear that Riley Poole will be BACK in the Disney+ series and will be played once again by Justin Bartha!
Disney+ took to Twitter to announce the news, and welcome Justin Bartha back to the role!

The new live-action National Treasure series is meant to expand on the existing franchise. The series itself is based on Jess (played by Lisette Alexis), who is said to be “brilliant and resourceful.” She “embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about her family’s mysterious past and save a lost Pan-American treasure.”

Production has already started on the new series, and we’ve seen a sneak peek of the show from Disney! From what we can gather, it looks like some of the group has been in jail for..a while.

The series will feature a number of other popular actors including Catherine Zeta-Jones as Billie, described by Disney as a “billionaire, black-market antiquities expert and treasure hunter who lives by her own code.” There will also be Zuri Reed as Tasha. Tasha is “Jess’ ride-or-die friend who joins the treasure hunt but is forced to reevaluate her belief system to help her best friend.”
Jordan Rodrigues will play Ethan, “Jess’ childhood best friend who has loved her since the day they met.” And Antonio Cipriano has been cast as Oren, “a loveable but self-obsessed goofball with an encyclopedic knowledge of conspiracy theories that attempts to win back Tasha’s affections.”

Other members of the cast include Jake Austin Walker as Liam, “a swoon-worthy struggling musician, with a permanent chip on his shoulder, who comes from a long line of treasure hunters;” and Lyndon Smith as FBI Agent Ross who helps out with the quest.
