The NEW Store in Disneyland Looks Awfully Familiar…

Few things warm the heart quite like the excitement of picking out a Disney souvenir while you’re in the park.

And shopping for souvenirs in Disneyland just got a little bit easier — there’s a NEW merchandise shop over in Disneyland Park, and it’s paying tribute to an original opening-day store. Let’s check out everything we know about the newest spot to pick up some Disney merchandise.

Merlin’s Marvelous Miscellaney opened its doors today, March 11th, 2022, in the Fantasyland area of Disneyland Park!

Above the doors, you’ll find Merlin’s famous words, “Higitus figitus migitus mum prestidigitonium.” Of course, this is a reference to The Sword and the Stone, but it’s also a tribute to the original store that once stood in this spot.

Merlin’s Magic Shop opened with Disneyland on July 17th, 1955, and remained there until 1983. And now, Disney Imagineers have taken visual cues from the original shop to create an all-new shopping experience (according to the Orange County Register).

As you look around the new store, you’ll notice that things are certainly not organized — much like Merlin himself. You’ll also see that the sign for Merlin’s Marvelous Miscellaney is an homage to the original Merlin’s Magic Shop sign — how cool! Check for more Easter eggs around the shop that point to the classic story The Sword in the Stone.
