If there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s that Disney Cast Members are the ones who make the magic happen at the Disney parks! On top of that, some of Disney’s alumni go on to become Disney Legends for their contributions to the parks, movies, and more; folks like Mary Blair and (of course) Walt Disney are immortalized in the company’s history.
And yesterday, Disney celebrated another Disney Legend in a very special way!
When you’re walking down Disneyland or Magic Kingdom’s Main Street, U.S.A. areas, have you ever noticed the ornate names painted on the windows of many of the buildings? Well, these displays are more than just advertisements for fictional businesses on Main Street, they’re the names of special people in Disney history! You’ll find the names of many members of Walt Disney’s family, as well as folks like Mary Blair, X. Atencio, and Michael Eisner.
Yesterday at Disneyland, a new name was added to the hallowed window displays of Main Street, U.S.A.! In a special ceremony, it was revealed that the Walt Disney Company Archives founder Dave Smith has received his own window painting above the Fortuosity Shop!
This morning, Disney Legend and @TWDCArchives Founder Dave Smith’s window was dedicated on Main Street, U.S.A. If you’re visiting @Disneyland, make sure to stop by the Fortuosity Shop to see it! If you take a look at the window, you’ll notice that it says “New Century Historical Society” followed by Dave Smith’s name over a quill. This is a playful nod to Smith’s hard work as the founder of the Archives and just like all the other displays, it blends in perfectly with the ambiance of Main Street, U.S.A.

Last year, we saw a similar ceremony over at Magic Kingdom with former Disney World President George Kalogridis getting his own display, which touted him as the Main Street Ambassador.
We’re always happy to see Disney legends celebrated! They really do make the magic happen around the parks and beyond.

He was a great man and glad We got to see him at a D23 event years back. Glad they got his window up in the place he loved the most.
Dave probably knew more Disney history than anyone, a true Disney legend!
