PHOTOS & VIDEOS: ALL the Characters and Entertainment at Disneyland’s Lunar New Year Celebration!

Happy Year of the Tiger, everyone!

Lunar New Year

Disneyland’s big Lunar New Year Celebration has officially kicked off at Disney California Adventure, and we’ve been bringing you along with us for all the new eats and drinks! But, it’s not just food that you have to look forward to, there’s also plenty of entertainment, and we’re taking you along to check it all out!

First up we got to see some special characters like Mulan and Mushu greeting guests!

And, for the first time ever, Raya from Raya and the Last Dragon is greeting guests at Disneyland!

It’s Raya!

You can catch her on the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail at select times throughout the day — just be sure to check the Disneyland app for the most up-to-date times.

And of course, we had to check out Mulan’s New Year Procession, which features Mulan, traditional Asian dancing, and a Chinese dragon — well, two dragons, because Mushu is part of the procession, too! Tigger, the official Year of the Tiger mascot, led the processional.

Mulan herself was also there, of course!

The dancing was just gorgeous!

You can also participate in the New Year’s Wishes activity, where you can write down all your wishes for the New Year on a red tag and tie it to the wishing wall.

Plus, there are also arts and crafts activities! At the crafts tables are bowls of crayons, as well as a detailed explanation of ancient Chinese dragon lore…

…and a “Pearl of Wisdom” fan to color! These fans are used in the dragon procession because, according to Chinese lore, the dragon captures the pearls in its mouth to gain the power to soar to the heavens.

The other side of the fan is already colorful, so you can use a similar color scheme or one of your own!
