A lot has changed over the past year when it comes to health and safety measures in theme parks across the U.S. as state and local governments update policies in response to CDC recommendations.

For example, both Disney World and Disneyland are requiring that all guests wear face masks when indoors, and Universal Studios Hollywood has implemented requirements for all guests to show proof of a COVID-19 vaccine or negative COVID-19 test to enter. But, now that policy is set to expand.
According to Universal Studios Hollywood’s website, they will now require that all guests ages 5 and up provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 24 hours (if taking an antigen test) or 48 hours (if taking a PCR test) of their visit. COVID-19 self-tests will not be accepted and those 18 and older will also need to show photo ID.

Previously, Universal Hollywood required proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID test within 72 hours of visiting for all guests 12 and older. However, this new policy shortens the testing period and expands the requirement to guests 5+.

Keep in mind that masks are also required to be worn when indoors throughout the theme park.

This new policy comes as concerns for the emerging Omicron variant continue to grow in the United States and COVID-19 vaccinations gain approval for distribution to children.

As this situation develops and policies continue to change in both California and Florida, we’ll keep you posted about the latest changes that could affect your trip. And, in the meantime, stay tuned to AllEars for more of the latest theme park news!
