Sesame Place Announced for SeaWorld San Diego

SeaWorld’s Aquatica park in San Diego, a 17-acre water park, closed recently.

In its place, SeaWorld has already started building a new theme park, which will be a combination of both reimagined existing attractions and brand new ones.

According to Bloloop, SeaWorld San Diego will be getting its own Sesame Place. There’s already a Sesame Street-themed park in Philadelphia, as well as a Sesame Place at SeaWorld in Orlando. The new addition for San Diego has a planned opening date of March 2022.

Some features from the existing Sesame Place park will come to this new one, including Super Grover’s Box Car Derby and the Sesame Street Party Parade, which features some of your favorite furry friends like Elmo, the Cookie Monster and Big Bird.

According to Bloloop, the Aquatica water rides (11 in total) will be staying. They’ll be re-done to match the new Sesame Street theme. In addition, the giant wave pool will also stay with the new park. Other rides and attractions with a Sesame Street theme will be added.

The park is planning to have a lot of interactive elements. For example, kids can go up to houses in the park and ring the doorbell or talk with characters on the pipe telephone. There will also be seasonal events at the new Sesame Place park, although details on what these will be haven’t been released yet. Keep following AllEars for more theme park news!
