Disneyland Resort has been gradually reopening over the past few months, and we’ve seen some big changes!
As hotels, dining options, and theme park attractions come back, some things are different than they were before. And now, there’s another new addition coming to the Disneyland Resort hotels that will make checking in a lot easier!
Earlier this year, the Disneyland Resort introduced the option for online check-in, making the process of checking in at your hotel’s front desk move more quickly than before. Now, this process is going to get even more straightforward, with the option to use the new digital key and go directly to your room!
Here’s how it works: first you’ll make sure that your reservation is linked to your Disney account in the Disneyland app or online. After that, you can complete your online check-in up to 5 days before you arrive. (Or traditionally at the front desk.) Once your room is ready, you can get into your room and locate your room number by tapping the “Unlock Door” button after signing into the Disneyland app.
If you used online check-in, this means that you’ll be able to go straight to your room without stopping by the front desk at all! Once you make it to the door of your room, you’ll simply tap the “Unlock Door” button and hold your phone against the door’s lock. It’s required that you have a Bluetooth-enabled device with the latest version of the Disneyland app.
Also, the digital key allows you to charge select dining and shopping to your hotel room via the app. You may also use it to access designated hotel areas like the pool and the fitness center.
While online check-in is available at all three Disneyland Resort hotels, the digital key is only available at the Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Grand Californian. It will come to Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel at a later date. Guests can still request regular keys at the front desk if necessary.
We’re interested to check out this feature and see how it works! Something similar is already available at Walt Disney World and it has been very convenient for check-in. Stay tuned to AllEars for the latest Disney news and updates from both coasts!
