It’s opening weekend for Black Widow, Marvel’s first movie release in two years! The new action film, centering around Natasha Romanoff, is in theaters and is available on Disney+ Premier Access!
Recently, Disney and Marvel reported the initial sales for the new movie and some interesting news about their Premiere Access service!
Disney’s Premier Access, which allows Disney+ customers to pay $30 to watch films at the same time they’re in theaters, has had mixed success in the past, with films like Cruella, Mulan, and Raya and the Last Dragon all using Premier Access. However, MSN has reported that Disney claims Premier Access was a total success for Black Widow!
According to reports by Disney, about 2 Million Disney+ customers bought Premier Access for Black Widow during its first weekend, with Disney making $60 million off of streaming alone.
Making $158 Million at the box office worldwide, Black Widow is a success! Although under normal circumstances, this movie would’ve made much more, this is a success given the unusual circumstances of the world and the film’s release.
Will future Premier Access movies be just as successful? Time will tell! However, it’s good to see a Marvel movie for the first time in over two years and we’re excited to see what’s next in this ambitious cinematic universe like the upcoming What If…? series and the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings film!
