Earlier this year, Disney announced that they would no longer offer transportation to and from the Orlando International Airport via Disney’s Magical Express after January 1st, 2022.
This means that guests will now have to find their own way to and from Disney World when they’re traveling — and it likely won’t be free. And, in response, Mears (the company that operates Disney’s Magical Express) shared details about a new shuttle service they will begin in January 2022. But, it looks like those hoping to book a shuttle between Disney World and the airport will have to wait a little longer.
Reservations for the new service, Mears Connect, were set to begin in May 2021, however, the Mears website has now been updated stating that reservations will open in “Summer 2021.”
Mears Connect is, however, still set to begin in January 2022 and you can sign up to get notified when reservations open (though the contact form has experienced technical difficulties).
The new transportation option will be one of many that Disney World travelers have to choose from to get between the airport and their resort including rideshares and taxis, renting a car, renting a private car, and Disney’s Minnie Van Service.
Mears Connect will likely be the closest you can get to replicating Disney’s Magical Express service, so stay tuned for more information on when reservations open if you’d like to book your travel! We will continue to keep an eye out for updates!

For us “old folks”, this was a wonderful program and made traveling to our hotel a joy. Yes, seniors do go to Disney!! The free magical express made it easy to get to and from the airport. Now, the happiest place on earth seems to have lost some of its sparkle. Farewell Disney. We still have the memories!!
Still hate this decision by WDW. We loved going down the escalator to the Disney Magical Express area and getting in line for our resort. It was always quick, fun, and so easy to add online at the time of our WDW package booking. And the ease of getting right on the bus from your WDW resort, it was always fun, smooth, seamless, and added to the overall experience. Very disappointed in this decision by WDW.
We’ve used Disney Magical express many times. This was a great option especially with Disney handling your bags. I don’t know what they are thinking doing away with this transportation, but I believe they are making a big mistake.
We r hoping to use Magical express in September 2021. But we haven’t decided yet cause of Luggage handling. We want to Save on Parking Fees at Hotel. Still debating
