Disney World Cast Members are a truly incredible team of people.

And that incredible team includes some real life superheroes! One Disney World Cast Member showed his bravery in a local heroic act, and he was honored for it but he President of Walt Disney World.

Jeff Vahle, the President of Walt Disney World Resort, shared the incredible story of one EPCOT Security Cast Member. When Joe Diaz was on his way home last December after working in the parks, he noticed that a four-year-old was trapped inside a partially flooded car in a pond. He immediately jumped into the water to help the child, keeping his head above the water until emergency teams could assist in freeing him.

Disney wanted to honor his incredible act by giving Joe Diaz the Disney Heroes Award, which goes to Cast Members who save a life or prevent serious injury. Jeff Vahle was joined by Linda Reid, the Vice President of Security, and Kartika Rodriguez, the Vice President of EPCOT, to bestow this honor upon Diaz.
