NEWS: Americans Aged 12 to 15 May Be Eligible for the COVID-19 Vaccine SOON

Since all adults have become eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine in America, vaccination rates have been on the rise and, in response, health and safety recommendations have begun to change.

At Disney World, we’ve seen self-service drink stations reopen, hand washing stations disappear from the parks, and mask mandates begin to change. But, even as more adults are vaccinated, those under the age of 16 have not been able to access the COVID-19 vaccine, though that may be changing soon.

According to The New York Times, the FDA has authorized all Americans ages 12 to 15 as eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine.

The authorization still needs to be reviewed by the FDA Advisory Committee, but, if it does pass, people as young as 12 could be able to receive the two-dose Pfizer vaccine immediately.

The CDC has recently changed guidance for those who are fully vaccinated allowing them to remove face masks in most outdoor settings, resume leisure travel in the U.S., and more. So, expanding the eligibility for the vaccine will mean that more Americans can participate in the relaxed guidelines once vaccinated as the world tries to return to “normal.”
