After over a year into a pandemic, and various iterations of lockdowns, it seems with the rise of COVID-19 vaccinations that Americans are looking to do some traveling beyond the confines of their homes.

Recent trends have indicated a significantly increased demand in traveling to Disney World over the past few months. In concurrence, the Orlando International Airport is seeing a sizable increase in new and returning flights.
A report on Marketplace.org notes that searches for vacation staples such as airfare and hotels are on the rise, according to data from Google and Hopper. Specifically, inquiries about domestic flights have increased by about 60% in the past month alone on Hopper.

This increase in travel interest correlates with the increasing vaccination rates throughout the country.

What is MOST interesting, to us at least, is that Google searches related to planning a Disney World vacation have increased 2600% in the last MONTH, according to Marketplace.org. What!? That is quite a big change.

We weren’t too sure how the math would shake out on that one, but when heading to look at search term trends ourselves, there have been some definite spikes in activity over the last month and a half! There are definitely a lot of exciting things coming up at Disney World, like its 50th Anniversary and new rides, so there are plenty of reasons to visit in the upcoming months.

With more people showing a desire to travel, it comes as no surprise that dozens of destinations are becoming accessible to Central Florida via the Orlando International Airport. Orlando Business Journal reports that twelve different airlines will help to rebuild travel at the airport through new and returning flight services.

In recent months, airlines have noticed a demand for travel as restrictions around the country, and around the world, loosen. This increase in travel is critical for building back the tourism industry, which has taken a massive hit over the last year.
