We’re back again, Marvel fans, and we’ve got a LOT to break down from this week’s episode of Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Now that Bucky and Sam have teamed up together officially, they’re fighting against a set of super soldiers. And, we’re not talking about good guys like Captain America, who are using their powers to help the world. So, you’ll want to get ready for your next “mission,” as we brief you on the hidden details that you missed during episode 2 of Falcon and the Winter Soldier!

Captain America Throwbacks

There’s a new Cap in town (but he just can’t seem to live up to the legacy of one Steve Rogers). As John F. Walker attempts to relive his glory days when he takes the helm of Captain America at his old high school. Apart from the cheerleader uniforms and marching band that might send you back down nostalgia lane, you’ll probably recognize a familiar tune playing in the background of the scene.

When Steve Rogers first took the helm as Captain America, “Star Spangled Man” played in the background to introduce the world to their new patriotic hero. And, John F. Walker is being given that same courtesy as the band plays the song during his big entrance.

Speaking of similarities, Bucky questions John later in the episode about his qualifications to hold the Captain America shield. He snaps and pointedly questions him if John has ever jumped on a grenade, calling back to the moment Steve risked his life to save his troop during Captain America.

Sorry, John, but Bucky and Sam don’t seem like they’ll be warming up to you anytime soon!

The White Wolf

In the first episode, Bucky noted to his government-appointed therapist that the last time he really felt calm was in Wakanda. Now, the world of the Black Panther has been brought up again as Bucky proudly refers to himself as the White Wolf. You might remember the nickname T’Challa dubbed Bucky in the end-credits sequence of the film. And, since Bucky has been attempting to distance himself from the terror he caused as the Winter Soldier, the White Wolf might seem like a more peaceful alter ego.

Plus, the nods towards Black Panther could be a hint of what’s to come in the next film installment.

Global Repatriation Council

The newest terrorist group in the MCU has named itself the Flag Smashers, as they attempt to return the world to the state it was in during the Blip. During the moment that Bucky comes face to face with Karli Morgenthau, you’ll notice that the cargo in the truck has “GRC” on the side. This stands for the Global Repatriation Council, which helped provide resources and aid for refugees during the Blip.

Walker and his partner Hoskins also reveal to Bucky and Sam that they are a part of this group.

Power Broker

In a “blink and you’ll miss it” moment during the end-credit sequence, you’ll notice the words “Power Broker Watching” next to a vial of what seems to be Vibranium. In the comics, Power Broker is one Curtiss Jackson, who makes a living out of basically making super soldiers. He employs mad scientist Dr. Karl Malus to do his evil bidding. During the scene where Karli makes a getaway on a plane, she also mentions the mysterious Power Broker.

Later in the comics, though, John F. Walker is able to receive his own Super-Patriot powers through the Power Broker company. Since there are hints that Sam may take up the Captain America shield with Joaquin then becoming the Falcon, Walker could end up going down this path later in the series.

Young Avengers, Here We Come

Last, but not least, we’ve got ANOTHER Young Avenger coming in hot!! Isaiah Bradley’s history as being one of the only living African American super soldiers is revealed to Sam. And, while this revelation is HUGE concerning the government’s continuous unethical experimentation, it’s also a big deal that Marvel has just introduced yet another Young Avenger.

Isaiah’s grandson Elijah later becomes the Young Avenger called “Patriot” in the comics. And, right now, we’ve got a running tally of five characters that could become the next heroic team to save the world. On top of the Maximoff twins, Kate Bishop in the upcoming Hawkeye, and Cassie Lang in Ant-Man, now Elijah has made an official appearance that could change the MCU as we know it!
