During the question and answer segment, Disney was asked about a series of films being released straight to Disney+ as well as in theaters, and a question was raised on the intent on the release of the upcoming Marvel film Black Widow.

According to Disney CEO Bob Chapek, Black Widow is still intended to be a theatrical release. However, Chapek noted the need to remain flexible and that they will be watching very carefully both the timeline of movie theaters reopening nationwide and consumer desires to want to go to movie theaters.

So far, Disney has already made considerable changes to their film release schedule and strategy. Starting with the live action remake of Mulan being a straight-to-streaming release, other films have followed suit including the Pixar film Soul.

Disney’s next release, Raya and the Last Dragon, will be released on March 5th both in theaters as well as on Disney+ via Premiere Access. This will be the second film to be made available on Disney+ via Premiere Access, following Mulan, but will be the first film to have this unique hybrid release model domestically.
