Between Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and all Disney’s other franchises, it’s easy to forget about some of the other content in development at the company. We announced several months ago that Disney+ would be home to a Doogie Howser M.D. reboot, and now we’ve got some fresh news about the show — including the person playing the lead role!

The reboot of the show from the 90s will be called Doogie Kameāloha, M.D., and will tell the story of a 16-year-old girl working as a doctor in Hawaii. The 10-episode series will take a comedic approach as the teenager struggles to balance her unusual life.

Disney+ shared today on their Twitter account that the lead role for the series has been cast. Peyton Elizabeth Lee will be playing the young doctor, and she’s worked with Disney before, known for playing the title character in the Disney show Andi Mack.

We look forward to hearing more details on this show, and we’ll make sure to update you as they become available. In the meantime, stay tuned to AllEars for the latest news on all the Disney media!

  1. Another creative and unique product from Disney to follow on in the success of all the others. Beyond repeating an old show that might offend fans; getting an old show and doing a gender swap is now old hat … even less creative.
