NEWS! Orlando Airport Implementing New Crowd Flow Technology to Encourage Physical Distancing

Airports everywhere have adjusted to the global health crisis by encouraging physical distancing and increasing sanitation frequency.

MCO Airport

Holiday crowds have increased at the Orlando International Airport. Florida is one of the top destinations in the country and many are traveling to Disney World for the season. While crowds are not nearly bad as 2019, MCO is attempting to reduce the spread with more accommodations for passengers.

It was recently announced that COVID-19 Rapid Tests will soon be available for passengers at the Orlando airport. MCO will also offer direct flights to Hawaii which will reduce stops between the two locations. The airport is now piloting another method to help assist the holiday crowds.

Orlando International Airport’s press release described the new “Evenflow Crowd Radar System.” The technology will monitor crowds and cleaning frequency then display the information on kiosks. The kiosk will indicate which areas area are busy and what seats or facilities have been cleaned recently. This way, passengers can make informed decisions while visiting the airport. It will also monitor passenger behavior and measure how the kiosks are impacting their decisions. Orlando International Airport is the first to test the system and more kiosks will be deployed across the country after several months of testing.
