Are you planning on taking a cruise on Disney Cruise Line or other cruise ship company?

Depending on where your ship cruises, you might want to some extra precautions. That’s certainly true if you’re cruising to Mexico because the U.S. Department of State has issued a NEW travel advisory for the country you may want to be aware of.
Mexico is a popular cruise line destination for many cruise ship companies, including Disney Cruise Line. But travel to Mexico could be dangerous. The U.S. has issued a travel advisory level 2 for many Mexican destinations, with other parts of the country at a level 3 and 4. Here’s how the levels break down:
- Level 1 — Exercise normal precautions (blue)
- Level 2 — Exercise increased cautions (yellow)
- Level 3 — Reconsider travel (orange)
- Level 4 — Do not travel (red)

The travel advisory is in place due to violent crime that includes homicide, kidnapping, carjacking, and robbery. There is also a risk of terrorist violence, as well as other activity in the country. The U.S. government may have limited ability to help in certain parts of Mexico, and emergency services are limited or unavailable in remote or rural areas.
If you are taking a cruise to Mexico, it’s probably a good idea to keep to cruise line-approved excursions into areas of the country rather than going it on your own.

If you do decide to travel to Mexico, the U.S. State Department suggests enrolling in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to get important updates and alerts from the U.S. embassy or consulate. This also helps the embassy or consulate contact you in case of an emergency. It’s also recommended that you buy travel insurance before you travel. .
We’ll keep an eye out for updates, so check back with AllEars again soon for more.
