BREAKING: This Big Change Will Allow Guests to Get a Rise of the Resistance Boarding Group from OUTSIDE Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

Disney just released information on a major change coming to how guests will get a Rise of the Resistance Boarding Pass at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios after November 3rd.

Rise of the Resistance

Previously, guests had to be at Hollywood Studios at 10AM to try for the first boarding pass of the day, which often resulted in very crowded mornings at the park.

As of November 3rd, though, guests with park pass reservations for Hollywood Studios can reserve their boarding passes for Rise of the Resistance at 7AM from wherever they are.

The opportunity to get a boarding group at 2PM will remain, though at that time guests will need to be in Disney’s Hollywood Studios to grab a boarding pass.

When we asked a Cast Member if you needed to be on Disney World property to get the 7AM boarding pass, we were told there is no “set distance”. However, they stressed the importance that you will need a park pass at Hollywood Studios for the day.

Disney World also recently added plexiglass barriers to ride vehicles in order to accommodate more guests on the attraction in order to hopefully increase capacity.

  1. I attempted to get into a virtual queue at 7am. I was ready to go at 6:55am, at my hotel, lying in bed. At 7am, on the dot, I tapped the button & immediately got a message that all the spots were full…try again at 2pm.

There is NO way the spots were taken in SECONDS. I feel that there must have been a way to get in before 7am, although I did it attempt because knowing Disney, I felt they would have the system locked out until the VERY moment.

I’ll try again at 2, while in the park, but I’m not going to hold my breath!

  2. We just got back. We went to HS on 10/18/20. Parking lot opened at 9:15, along with the park. We exchanged our online tickets for hard tickets at a ticket booth. By 10 am we were riding Smugglers Run, even though the park wasn’t supposed to open until 10. Thirty seconds after 10 am drop, all Rise virtual queues were gone, we missed our chance. We waited until 2 pm for the next drop. We got in on this drop, and tickets lasted for 3 minutes before gone. We waited outside the Rise entrance at 2pm to get the virtual tickets, thinking the wifi would be best here, and it was. An hour and a half later we were riding Rise (Our boarding group was 78). Best theme park ride ever, barely edging out Pandora. Wait times were as posted, maybe add 15 minutes. We waited 70 minutes to ride Pandora at AK. Back at HS, we waited 35 min for Toy Story, Slinky Dog was 60 min all day long.

  3. I have attempted five times, and have not been able to ride rise of the resistance yet. The park is so incredibly crowded, I do not enjoy myself whatsoever. Everybody is waiting for the 10 am and 2 o’clock drawings, lines for everything are ridiculously long. I have stopped going to Hollywood and will spend my time at the other three parks.

    1. I too have not been able to get a boarding pass. You are right lines are way to long and not worth the wait. I think it would help a lot if they would restart the fast pass. I too do not plan on going back to Hollywood Studios until Disney can find a way to alleviate the time wasting lines.

  4. Thank you Molly! I received my email about this yesterday. We will be arriving on November 5 and have a reservation for HS on November 6. Just watched your most recent video and had a great plan for Hollywood studios LOL. Looking forward to see how this works out for you prior to our arrival so we can re-plan our strategy. I think it is a good move and it looks like they’re trying to reduce capacity first thing in the morning so the eTicket attractions are not bombarded while everybody waits to ride once they get their boarding pass.

  5. does it have to be made that morning or can I make the reservation on the boarding group at anytime long as I have a ticket . IE dinner reservations can be made 60 days out can I do the same with this ?

  6. How does this help prevent all boarding group from all being taken instantly at 7 am? Whether your in the park or not at 7 am or 10 am does not increase your chances of snaging a boarding pass.

    1. I think it’s more to do with lowering the crowds early in the morning for social distancing and since you can’t park hop at the moment, you are therefore not stuck in HS all day trying to get a boarding pass.

    1. Hi Naomi! According to Disney’s announcement, yes, you should be able to as long as you have a Park Pass at Disney’s Hollywood Studios that day!
