Disney World Website States FastPass+ to Return in January — But It’s Most Likely a Mistake

Editor’s note: Since publishing this post, Disney World has removed verbiage regarding FastPass+ on the page mentioned below.

Disney announced in May 2020 that upon re-opening, FastPass+ would not be utilized as the additional queue space would be used for physical distancing. Additionally, limited capacity has provided low wait times (generally speaking) since the Disney World parks reopened, meaning FastPass+ has hardly been needed.

However, an update to a Disney World planning page provided some eye-catching information this afternoon. On a page advertising a “post-holiday visit” in January or February, the Disney website laid out the details of booking FastPass+. News outlets have stated that this Disney World update means the return of FastPass+ in the new year, however, we’re wary that this may be an unintentional error.

For starters, the entire page (listed under the Events and Tours section of the website) has a warning at the top that states reservations for this experience are not available.

Additionally, below the FastPass+ information, Disney’s site suggests other activities for guests traveling within these months.

One of these suggested activities is the Flower and Garden Festival — which states a return date of spring 2020.  Not only that, Disney uses “Epcot” on this page, where newer information has reverted back to EPCOT. Additionally, suggested experiences include Happily Ever After and Meeting Sulley, both of which are still listed as “Temporarily Unavailable” on the Disney World site.

Other suggestions on the page include tours such as Wild Africa Trek, which are also shown as “reservations unavailable” on their Disney World pages.

Additionally, we chatted with a Walt Disney World Cast Member on the website’s chat feature and were told there is not a confirmed date for the return of FastPass+.

Of course, FastPass+ COULD return in January of 2021, but it also could return before or after. At this time we don’t have any official confirmation from Disney regarding if/when it will return.

While we don’t know for sure when FastPass+ will return, based on our research it appears this page is currently being updated by Walt Disney World, and the information regarding FastPass+ returning in January is outdated.

As always, we will continue to update you if more information regarding FastPass+ arises.

  1. My husband and I are currently at Disney World for the week. We’re extremely disappointed in how long lines are, averaging 60-90 for nearly all rides. As a DVC member and a pass holder, there’s absolutely no perks whatsoever. We’ve been understanding and empathetic about all the necessary restrictions due to COVID-19, but we feel the parks aren’t enjoyable if we have to wait in ridiculous lines all day.

  2. I’d rather Disney wait on Fastpass until a vaccine for Covid is widely distributed than bring it back prematurely and have people become ill.
