Despite being less than a year old, Disney+ has already made a big impact in the digital streaming world.
Last month, it was reported that Disney+ had already hit the milestone of 50 million subscribers, and had been a bright spot in The Walt Disney Company’s portfolio during the global health crisis. In fact, due to its popularity during this time, one analyst has forecasted that the streaming service could be on track to hit some major milestone numbers in the next few years.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Digital TV Research analyst Simon Murray has forecasted that Disney+ “will reach 202 million subscribers worldwide by 2025.”
In his report, Murray reveals that he has “completely revised” his previous estimate of 126 million, noting that the rise in subscriptions during worldwide lockdowns has led to his higher estimation.
Disney+ is not the only digital streaming service that Murray has revised estimated subscriber numbers for. He has also reported that Netflix will reach 258 million by 2025, up from his previous estimation of 238 million.
